Tickets for Mary Stuart, a Juicy Tale of a Royal Odd Couple, Now On Sale

Tickets are now available for the Broadway revival of Friedrich Schiller's Mary Stuart. Starring Janet McTeer and Harriet Walter, the production begins performances on March 30 at the Broadhurst Theatre. Phyllida Lloyd directs.
Written by Schiller in 1800, Mary Stuart portrays the extraordinary relationship between England’s Elizabeth I and her cousin, Mary Queen of Scots, Elizabeth’s rival to the throne. Through behind the scenes intrigue, scheming and betrayal, the play has the contemporary feel of a modern-day political thriller, building to an electrifying, dramatic confrontation. The show made its Broadway debut at the Fifth Avenue Theatre on February 26, 1900, running in repertory with Twelfth Night, Marie Antoinette and Macbeth, among others. Mary Stuart, starring Salome Jens and Nancy Marchand, was revived at Vivian Beaumont Theatre on November 12, 1971. On July 14, 2005, the Donmar Warehouse's revival opened in London to critical acclaim, transferring to the West End's Apollo Theatre on October 7 and enjoying a sold-out run through January 14, 2006.
In addition to McTeer and Walter, the play features Michael Countryman as Sir Amias Paulet, John Benjamin Hickey as Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, Michael Rudko as Count Aubespine/Melvil, Robert Stanton as William Davison, Maria Tucci as Hanna Kennedy, Chandler Williams as Mortimer, Nicholas Woodeson as William Cecil, Lord Burleigh, and three-time Tony Award nominee Brian Murray as George Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury.
The production is designed by Anthony Ward, with lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound by Paul Arditti. Mary Stuart is being produced on Broadway by Arielle Tepper Madover and Debra Black.
